Grenadiers of the Guard (Grenadiers à Pied de la Garde Impériale)




The Grenadiers of the Guard were Napoleon's most elite and trusted troops, they were the most senior troops of the Grande Armée. They were the bravest and most experienced troops. At it's height, the guard was expanded to 4 Regiments.

Requirements:
  1. Must be literate.
  2. Must be over 178cm tall.
  3. Must have received a citation for bravery.
  4. Must have served in the army for at least 10 years (3-5 campaigns).
Uniform:
  • Dark Blue Habit Long
  • Red Turnbacks
  • Epaulettes
  • White Lapels
  • Bearskin Hat- Engraved Gold Plate, Red Plume, White Cords
The 2e Grenadiers, 3e Grenadiers and the 4e Grenadiers were a result of the expansion of the Old Guard in 1815. The Battle of Waterloo would prove that these units were by-far inferior to the 1st Grenadiers of the Guard (Le 1er Régiment des Grenadiers à Pied de la Garde Impériale). As a conclusion, the Grenadiers of the Guard, especially the 1st Regiment was La Crème de la crème of the Infantry of the Imperial Guard.
