Marines of the Guards (Marins de la Garde)

The Marines of the Guard were formed in 1803. Their main purpose was to transport the Emperor during the expected crossing of the English channel prior to the invasion in England. The Marines of the Guard were sometimes translated into Seamen of the Guard.

Requirements:
  1. Had to be veterans for at least 2-3 campaigns.
Uniform:
  • Navy Blue Hussar-style Dolman Jackets
  • Navy Blue Hungarian-style Trousers with Gold Lace
  • Shako- Gold trimmed, Tall Red Plume
The battalion was formed by 5 crews (equipages). But after the cancellation of the invasion, they remained as guards manning boats, barges and other water vessels the Emperor traveled in.
